Introduction to the Program:

The 2 year Master degree program in Geography consists of four semesters and offers advanced courses on Geography including Applied Geomorphology, Applied Environmental Geography, Advanced Quantitative Techniques, Advanced Geoinformatics, Regional Planning and Development etc. Independent dissertation project under the guidance of the advisor updates the students about the recent development in Geography and related fields. Advanced Environmental Geography, Applied Geomorphology and Hazard, Urban and Regional Planning, Hydro-meteorology and Remote sensing and GIS are the specializations that we offer to our masters’ students. Inclusion of Projects, Dissertations, Seminars on Contemporary Research Geography and Geoinformatics, Summer Internships in various industries and reputed Research Organizations will help the students to think outside the box and igniting the young minds with scientific inquisitiveness.

01: Advanced Knowledge in Applied Geography:Demonstrate knowledge of concepts, methods, and theories designed for advanced learning of natural world and human society, and their implications for research and societal benefits.

02: Specialized Knowledge for Future Research: In-depth knowledge and research capabilities in, at least one particular geographic subfield.

03: Environmental Ethics and Sustainability: Critical understanding of man-environment relationships, and aptitude towards management of environment and resources for sustainable development.

04: Modern Research Skills for Data Analysis: Manipulate, visualize and analyze maps and data for a variety of purposes through geo-computation, cartography, programming, remote sensing and GIS techniques.

05: Handling Modern Instruments and Field Project: Efficient in conducting field project though designing field plan, data collection with various modern instruments and questionnaire survey, and project analysis.

06: Advanced Writing Skills: Capable to write and design good quality of articles, reports, research papers and thesis.

07: Development of Communication Skill and Leaderships: Develop quality for lectures and research presentation, good communication, leadership, work in group, and other extracurricular activities.

08: Professional Development: Capable to compete in various competitive examination for research (NET/SLET) and government job, and efficient to make career as research project scientists and GIS Analysts.
