2nd International Conference on Geospatial Science and Technology for Earth Observation (GSTEO 2023)

with special reference to environment and land degradation

May 11 – 13, 2023 (Adamas University and Online)

GSTEO 2023: We are pleased to welcome you to the International Conference on Geospatial Science and Technology for Earth Observation (GSTEO 2023) with special reference to the environment and land degradation. The conference is set to take place on 11 – 13 May 2023 and will be a Hybrid (online + offline) event. The use of geospatial science and technology has become increasingly important in recent years for understanding and managing environmental issues such as land degradation, climate change, environmental change, etc. Geospatial technology provides us with the ability to capture, store, process, analyze, and visualize geospatial data, which is crucial for effective decision-making.

  • This conference will bring together researchers, scientists, practitioners, and policymakers from around the world to share their knowledge, experience, and ideas on the latest developments in geospatial science and technology for Earth observation. The conference will provide an opportunity to discuss and explore the latest advancements, trends, and challenges in the field of geospatial science and technology.
  • The conference will focus on environmental and land degradation, one of the most pressing issues facing our planet today. With the help of geospatial technology, we can better understand the extent of land degradation and its impact on ecosystems, biodiversity, and human livelihoods. We can also identify potential solutions to mitigate the effects of land degradation and restore degraded ecosystems.
  • The conference will feature keynote speakers, technical sessions, and poster presentations covering a wide range of topics related to geospatial science and technology for Earth observation. We hope that the conference will foster productive discussions, collaborations, and partnerships among the participants, leading to innovative solutions for addressing the challenges of environmental and land degradation.

We extend our warmest welcome to all participants, and we hope that the conference will be a valuable platform for sharing knowledge, exchanging ideas, and networking with colleagues from around the world.

The Department of Geography, Adamas University commenced its classes in the academic session 2015-16 under the School of Sciences (Presently, School of Basic and Applied Sciences). The department offers B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Geography, M.Sc. in Geoinformatics, and Ph.D. Programs. The department is committed to advancing the understanding of the natural and human environments. With 10 faculty and staff members, the departments bring a wealth of expertise in areas such as geomorphology, GIS, remote sensing, urban planning, environmental management, and social justice, and engage in collaborative research projects with local and international partners. Students benefit from state-of-the-art facilities and resources, including a GIS lab and field equipment, and have opportunities to participate in internships, fieldwork, and community engagement activities. https://science.adamasuniversity.ac.in/geography/

COMLAND: The Commission on Land Degradation and Desertification (COMLAND) is an international organization dedicated to addressing the issues of land degradation and desertification, which are two of the most significant environmental challenges facing our planet today. The organization that is now COMLAND started in 1994 as the “IGU Study Group on Erosion and Desertification in Regions of Mediterranean-type Climate”.  This developed into a formal Commission of the IGU in 1996 and the Founding Chair was Prof. Maria Sala. The mission of COMLAND is to promote sustainable land management practices, prevent land degradation, and restore degraded land. The organization works closely with governments, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to develop and implement policies and programs aimed at reducing the impact of land degradation and desertification. http://www.comland.org/
