Dr. Indrani Ghosh, alumnus of IIT Bombay, has started working as Assistant Professor of Environmental Science at Adamas University from April, 2017. She had completed her graduation in Chemistry (Hons.) from Bethune College (University of Calcutta) in 2006 and received M.Sc. degree in Environmental Science from Asutosh College (University of Calcutta) in 2008. After qualifying GATE (2008) she was selected to pursue Ph.D. in Centre for Environmental Science and Engineering (CESE) at IIT Bombay. She was awarded with Ph.D. degree from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, in 2015.
Dr. Ghosh gained experience of teaching several B.Tech and M.Tech level courses as Teaching Assistant during her Ph.D. tenure at IIT Bombay. After successful completion of her Ph.D. she had worked as institute research associate in CESE, IIT Bombay for five months. She joined Adamas University in Feb’ 2016 as a visiting faculty and selected for the post of Assistant Professor in March, 2017.
Dr. Ghosh has more than six years of research experience in biological degradation of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) such as, high molecular weight polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, characterization and quantitative analysis of various petroleum hydrocarbon groups present in refinery sludge, wastewater and simulated sample, metabolite identification and degradation pathway. She is highly skilled in chromatographic separation techniques, especially, gas chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography and various microbiological techniques. She has successfully demonstrated her research in various international and national peer reviewed journals and book chapters. She also presented her work in various international and national conferences and achieved “Best Poster Award” twice.
