Department of Geography, Adamas University has organized a special lecture on “Climate Change and Sustainable Development in the Ganges Delta” on 24th June 2019. The invited speaker was Prof. Sugata Hazra, Director, School of Oceanographic Studies, Jadavpur University. With more than 22 years of research experience, Prof. Sugata Hazra has introduced the audience with the changing climatic conditions and its impact on the Gangess Delta. He addressed the burning issues of sea level rise, disconnected river networks, saline water intrusion, water resource availability and deficiency, agro-economic setup, declining marine fisheries resources, food security and changing land use pattern in the Indian Sundarbans which lies in the south-western part of the Ganges delta.
