Prof. Indra Dasgupta, an alumnus of Presidency College and IIT Kanpur did his PhD from S N Bose Nation Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata, India. He did his post-Doctoral research from Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research, Stuttgart, Germany. His area of interest in research is Theoretical and Computational Condensed Matter Physics, like electronic structure calculations of novel magnetic systems, strongly correlated systems, low-dimensional quantum spin systems, magnetic properties of materials at nano scale and disordered systems etc. He was earlier associated with IIT Kharagpur and IIT Bombay for a long time as faculty member. He held visiting position in various premier research institutes like Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research, Stuttgart, Germany, University of Missouri Columbia, USA, Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research, Stuttgart, Germany, International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste etc. He has published around 150 research papers in renowned peer reviewed international journals including Physical Review Letters, Physical Review B etc.
