GIS Day

GIS Day is a Global movement for bringing the Universities, Govt./Non Govt agencies, Schools and GIS professionals under one roof to built idea, understanding about the world and to inspire and change the world through GIS. In 1999 first GIS day was celebrated with the inspiration of ESRI president and co-founder Jack Dangermond. Every year, the department of Geography, School of Science, Adamas University celebrates World GIS day to create interest among the school and college students about the applications of GIS in today’s world. This year the department is going to celebrate the day on 22nd November 2019.

About the Department

The Department of Geography, Adamas University commenced its classes from the academic session 2015-16 under School of Sciences. The department has nine teaching and research staffs. It is well equipped with Cartographic, Geoinformatics and Geostatistics and Ph.D. Programs. The department offers B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Geography, P.G. Diploma in Geoinformatics and Geostatistics and Ph.D. Programs. The department also offers industrial inbternship to enhance skills of the students and provide job opportunities at the end of their courses.

Points to be remembered

  • One student can take part in any one event in a group
  • There must be maximum 4 students group in Poster and Model categories and 3 students group in Quiz Competition
  • Each group need to submit a separate form
  • One group can participate in one event only
  • One faculty member can accompany the students from one school/college as a mentor
  • Models must be non-electrical
