Dr. Prabuddha Bhattacharya had Joined Adamas University in June,2017 as an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry under School of Science. Dr. Bhattacharya had graduated with Chemistry Honors from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata (under Calcutta University) and was the departmental gold medalist from St. Xavier’s College for securing the highest marks in B.Sc Chem. Hons. (2005-2008). He then completed his post graduation in 2010, from Calcutta University (M.Sc in Chemistry) with specialization in Organic Chemistry. He worked under the guidance of Prof. ChhandaMukhopadhyay (Calcutta University) during his M.Sc project on the field of Multi Component Reactions (MCR). After qualifying CSIR-NET (JRF)(Dec 2009) (in Chemical Science) and GATE (Feb 2010) (in Chemistry), he earned his Ph.Din 2016, working under the guidance of Prof. Amit Basakat IIT Kharagpur, on the interface of organic synthesis and bio-organic chemistry. He worked on various facets of organic chemistry including synthetic methodology based on allene chemistry, multistep organic synthesis of orthocondensedpolynuclear heterocycles followed by their DNA-binding studies and also on asymmetric synthesis. Following the submission of his thesis, he had worked as a Senior Project Assistant under Prof. Amit Basak’s guidance, on the synthesis and DNA-binding studies of chromans, sponsored by DST (August 2016 to June 2017).He also worked a guest lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at SurendranathCollge, Kolkata (under Calcutta University), (Nov 2016 to May 2017).His research interests include multistep organic synthesis of bioactive molecules; design, synthesis and biochemical studies of DNA-binding molecules; organometallic chemistry; one-pot MCR.
