Dr. Anandita Sengupta is an Assistant Professor of Geography in the School of Science of Adamas University. She was awarded PhD in Spatial Planning and Industrial Disaster Management from University of Twente, The Netherlands in 2016. Academically she holds Masters of Science in Geography (with specialization in Applied Geography and Regional Planning) from Banaras Hindu University Varanasi followed by Masters of Science in Geoinformatics (with specialization in Geohazards) from Indian Institute of Remote Sensing Dehradun jointly with International Institute of Geoinformation Science and Earth Observation (ITC), The Netherlands. She has couple of years of experience working at various national and international level research organizations including European Commission Joint Research Centre Italy, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar. She was also associated with National Institute of Disaster Management, New Delhi and authored the National-level guideline on Application of Geoinformatics in Chemical Disaster Management. Amongst others her main research interests include the application of geo-information tools and techniques to support risk-informed land use (spatial) planning decisions at various levels; conceptualization of digital cadastral database preparation in a cost-effective way to support effective land administration system of the country.
